Kelowna International Airport Entry
Location: Kelowna, BC
Completion date: Fall 2009
During the fall of 2009, Outland designed a new entry landscape for an expansion of the Kelowna International Airport. A very tight timeline for the project was required, and Outland successfully completed construction drawings and conducted contract administration services, seeing the project through to completion before the snow began to fall that same season.
The site is very exposed, and plants were selected for their hardiness and tolerance of extreme temperatures and low water conditions. High-efficiency irrigation is also used to minimize water use. The space is intended to increase and enhance the occupiable outdoor space at the airport for both visitors and employees.
